Experience
I'm currently working towards my bachelor's degrees in Hispanic Studies and Teaching English as a Second Language at the College of William and Mary. For the last few years, I have been tutoring middle school students through a mentoring program in the area. I have worked with these students on a variety of school subjects, whichever ones they needed support with. Before that, I learned how to be a tutor by working unofficially with my younger sister, who has a learning disability. This has helped me learn a lot about tutoring, and the skills I initially learned when with her are those I have worked to perfect with other students. The main subjects I prefer to tutor in are English and Spanish. I have a passion for languages. I find it essential, in a tutoring relationship, to first learn all I can about my student, on both a personal and an academic level. By knowing what the student's strengths, interests, and abilities are, I can better customize study sessions that will help them specifically. I also focus on study skills such as time management and organizational skills with my students. In my spare time, I love to read, write, practice yoga, and ride horses.
