EducationFlorida State University - BA, BS, Chinese, International Affairs
ExperienceMy first exposure to tutoring came while in high school, as I was a member of the National Honors Society and volunteered working with students who had scored low on the FCAT. I then attended Florida State University and earned my degree in international affairs, with a public administration and emergency management concentration, as well as a degree in Chinese language and culture, with an English minor. Since Florida State has a significant number of foreign students, I was able to tutor many of my peers when learning English as a foreign language. I also took on a leadership role within my department, as the school encouraged students to help those who are learning English as a second language to communicate informally. As a tutor in my university, I helped others to prepare for standardized tests, to improve their English skills, and to maximize their time management skills. I have made it a priority of mine as a tutor to learn with the student that I am helping. This helps keep me on my toes and ensures that I am getting something out of the experience as well. When I'm not tutoring or studying, I enjoy writing, computer programming, learning new languages, and gardening.
